What is the Jan Aushadhi Kendra Experiential Learning Program?
The Jan Aushadhi Kendra (JAK) Experiential Learning Program is a new nationwide internship initiative launched on 1st June 2025. It is part of the central campaign called ‘Seva Se Seekhen’ (Learn by Doing), focused on enhancing experiential learning and youth participation in community services. This program has been jointly rolled out by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
Objective of the Programme
- Promote hands-on learning in real-world healthcare environments
- Encourage public health awareness and the promotion of generic medicines
- Develop technical and soft skills in inventory, supply chain, and customer management
- Build values like discipline, empathy, and teamwork among youth
- Strengthen grassroots engagement
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to young individuals from various platforms such as:
- MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat)
- National Service Scheme (NSS)
- MYB Kendras
- Pharmacy colleges
- Other youth and volunteer organisations
Each district will host 5 volunteers, making it a nationwide engagement program.
Responsibilities of Volunteers
During the 15-day internship, participants will:
- Support daily operations of Jan Aushadhi Kendras
- Assist in medicine inventory management
- Promote generic medicine usage and public health literacy
- Observe and learn about logistics and backend processes
- Handle basic customer service and record maintenance tasks
